Jack Stanley Herbert was born Tuesday night at 11:27 pm. Weighing in at 8lbs 14.3oz (4036 grams), and measuring 19 inches (48.5 cm), Jack came into the world with a full head of hair and dark blue eyes. We’re keeping a wary eye on the other parents in the hospital, because it’s clear that little [...]

We’ve made some massive changes to the baby room over the past few weeks. The boxes are gone and we’ve added a crib, a changing table, a stroller, and lots of soft baby stuff.
It was only a matter of time before the cats discovered all the new stuff.
I’m going to be a father.
Tonight, for the first time, I felt some real fear about this. I am going to be responsible for the growing creature inside Greta’s tummy. Every waking moment, for the next twenty years, will be consumed by this creature’s needs.
Holy &*%*$*%!!!
Not sure why it hit me tonight. [...]
He’s been moving around for awhile now, and Greta has been feeling kicks and punches for weeks. Yesterday, she saw the baby move. That’s right, with her eyes.
His strength, at this young age, is astounding. He made Greta’s tummy move. We’re not sure if it was a fist or a foot, but it was strong [...]
It’s a boy!
Woo Hoo!
We were pretty convinced that he was going to be a she. Mostly, I think, because of all the inappropriate jokes I’ve made about not wanting girls. I just feel a little uncomfortable about the whole birds and the bees thing, with girls.
However, going into the appointment this morning, I [...]
Very exciting stuff. Look for an update in a few short hours…
There have been requests for more information on Greta and the baby. This amuses me. I’ve been keeping journals for the past 10 years, and many of them are addressed to my unborn child….it’s a very strange practice that a psychologist would probably have a field day with. But my children will never be starved [...]
The baby kicked last night. Greta felt it.
It’s really not fair that she got to feel it, and i didn’t. I’m going to mention this to the baby when it is old enough to speak.
So there really is a little creature inside my wife’s tummy.
We scanned the pics from our 12-week ultrasound appointment last week. Check ‘em out here. You can see a hand!
I wrote previously about the fascist nurse who wouldn’t let me videotape. In her defense, she gave us 9 pics, which was nice.
We went to DHMC for ultrasound #2 today. The baby is now 6.7 centimeters long, or approximately 2.64 inches. Woo Hoo!
I wanted to show you video, but the stupid annoying fascist technician wouldn’t allow video in her ultrasound room. Grrrrrrr! I told her that my people (you, dear readers) were expecting [...]
I know, I know, it’s totally not “cool” to post pictures of your meal on your blog. (Unless you publish a cool food blog.)
But I’ve received almost no pity for my situation, so I thought a picture would help.
Anyone who’s ever had the privilege to be invited to our house for dinner knows that [...]
Technically, Greta is doing most of the work…Baby is due November 26 (which puts us just shy of 11 weeks). We are frantically calling everyone we know, but I just had to put this video up.
We had a little scare at the hospital yesterday when the doctor couldn’t find the baby’s heartbeat with a doppler. [...]
