Email from my wife

I just received this email from Greta:

did you get my message? Jack truly rolled over today!!! From his back to his tummy, which is the hard way (tummy to back is easier).

“Your baby may be able to kick himself over, from his tummy to his back, as early as age 2 to 3 months. It may take him until he’s about 5 or 6 months to flip from back to front, though, because he needs stronger neck and arm muscles for that maneuver.”

There are a few things to say about it:

  1. The first thing to say about it is just how cool it is to watch Jack learn new stuff.  He’s a little ball of love and I just want to squeeze him.
  2. The second thing to say is that he’s incredibly advanced for his age, especially when you consider how large his brain is.
  3. The final thing to say is that it’s a little sad that I learn about this latest accomplishment via email.  I’m at work, so I couldn’t see it in person.  When my wife called on the phone, I was on a call so I couldn’t hear her reaction in person.  Instead, I had to settle for email news.

I’m not one of these people that is bearish on the Internet because ‘it ain’t like it used to be.’  I believe that the Internet enables increased social connections through new vehicles, like photo sharing, Twitter, Facebook, and of course Herbietown.

But it’s a little sad that I’m working so hard that I’ll miss my son’s first roll-over.
