I just discovered Spokeo.
If you like to stalk your friends, then this site is for you. Here’s how it works:
- Enter your login/pw for your email account (gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc)
- Spokeo pulls in the contacts from your address book, and then searches the Internet for all publicly available user-generated content associated with that email. Spokeo searches Facebook, Friendster, LinkedIn, Amazon, Twitter, Flickr, Picasa, Digg, Pandora, hi5, StumbleUpon, and others.
- Spokeo generates a Facebook-style mini-feed to show you all the activity of your contacts.
It feels a little dirty but once you’ve started, it’s hard to stop.
It’s especially fun if you keep a lot of old email addresses in your address book. You can look in on old contacts and see what they look like (pictures), what they’re listening to (Pandora), what they’re doing for work (LinkedIn), who their friends are (social networks), what websites they’re visiting (Digg, StumbleUpon) and what they’re thinking (blogs, twitter).
Dirty, stalkerish fun! Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
