I’m Pregnant!

Technically, Greta is doing most of the work…Baby is due November 26 (which puts us just shy of 11 weeks). We are frantically calling everyone we know, but I just had to put this video up.

We had a little scare at the hospital yesterday when the doctor couldn’t find the baby’s heartbeat with a doppler. There we were, sitting in this little room, watching the doctor run an instrument over Greta’s tummy, listening to “dead air”…for what felt like an eternity. The doctor was clearly worried. Assuming the worst, we walked across the hospital to the sonogram department, where they squeezed us in without an appointment.

It’s hard to describe how it felt to see this little human swimming around. The nurse showed us the heart beating and I wanted to cry. It was a HUGE relief. That’s my baby! Woo Hoo! And it has arms and legs and it’s moving! OH MY GOD! It can SWIM! It has a huge head…which means it has a HUGE BRAIN! (this proud parent stuff went on for quite awhile…I’ll spare you most of it)

The technician, who has 18 years of experience with sonograms, agreed that this was the cutest baby she had seen… She also concurred with me that the baby was clearly reading a book. Unfortunately, she couldn’t make out whether it was a calculus textbook or a Hemingway novel…I’ll let you know as soon as I figure it out!
