I just got an email from Baby Center. Here’s what the subject line said:
“17 Dangerous Infections During Pregnancy”
What a ridiculous subject line! I can’t believe they prey on people like that. If you’re pregnant, and you don’t open that email, you’re basically saying that you don’t care about your child. They also try to get men to read them by using the list format. Men like numbers–just look at a cover of Men’s Health.
Here are a few more subject lines:
“8 Hidden Dangers For Newborns”
“17 Signs of a Possible Pregnancy Problem”: This had to be the worst email. I mean, there are probably a million things that could go wrong during pregnancy…the last thing expectant parents need is someone telling them to be paranoid about every little thing. But the good folks at Johnson & Johnson thought I should get 17 little fears delivered to my Inbox!
I didn’t make these up. If I did, they might sound like this:
“2,039 Things You Have To Buy From Johnson & Johnson, If You Love Your Baby”
