I want a new car

Now that we’ve decided to save all this money by living in Stamford, it’s time to start spending some of it.  I want a new car.

I’ve never had a new car.  My Mom believes in used cars, so that’s what I’ve always had.  She didn’t want to spoil her children.  Over the years, I’ve driven the following chick-magnet rides: Honda Civic hatchback, Mercury Sable, Volkswagen Jetta, Subaru Forester, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.  All of them had chronic problems and required constant maintenance.

But I can’t complain, because all of these cars have been supplied by my generous parents.  Now that I’m 28 years old, it’s about time that I cut the cord.  And it’s about time that I discard the lessons that the elderly have tried so hard to instill in me….and buy a new car.

I want a BMW, like my friend Ben.  But they’re pretty expensive and probably not very practical from a fuel economy or service POV.  I also like Audi’s.

We should probably think about safety and space, since there’s a bun in the oven.  Maybe a Volvo wagon?  Or another Subaru?  Or a minivan?  (Just kidding, hell will freeze over first)

Should we buy or lease?  I’ve been researching the buying process on cars.com.  Know any other good sites?  Any other advice?  As seen previously on Herbietown, we listen to our readers…
